New Delhi, Apr 5: In a major counter-terror operation, the Delhi Police Special Cell, in coordination with the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), has arrested a suspected ISIS operative in Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh.
The accused, Rizwan Ahmed, is being brought to Delhi on transit remand for further interrogation. Officials said he is believed to have been linked to the Islamic State since 2015 and may have played a key role in recruitment and radicalisation activities in India.
Sources said Ahmed was allegedly involved in “brainwashing” individuals and building a network aligned with extremist ideology. His questioning is expected to reveal the scale and operational reach of the module.

Security agencies recovered suspected bomb-making materials, incriminating documents and jihadi literature from his possession, indicating possible plans for terror activities.
Officials added that Ahmed had earlier been detained in 2015 and lodged in Arthur Road Jail in connection with terror-related cases, raising concerns about reactivation of sleeper cells.
Investigators are also probing whether he had direct links with foreign handlers or was part of a domestic module inspired by ISIS ideology.
The arrest comes a day after the UP ATS busted another suspected terror module with links to handlers in Pakistan. Four individuals, including the main ????? Saqib alias “Devil,” were arrested for allegedly planning attacks on critical infrastructure such as railway systems.
Officials said the group had conducted reconnaissance in cities like Ghaziabad, Aligarh and Lucknow, and shared sensitive information via encrypted platforms including Telegram, Signal and Instagram.
A case has been registered under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, with further investigations underway.
