Bantwal: St Jacob's Higher Primary School launches centenary celebrations, renovates classrooms

Bantwal, Jul 28: The Feast of St Jacob was celebrated with great devotion and joy at St Jacob's Higher Primary School, Bantwal, on July 27. The occasion was made even more significant with the inauguration of the school's Centenary Year Celebrations and the blessing of the newly renovated classrooms.

The solemn function was graced by Fr Leo Lasrado, education secretary of the diocese of Mangalore, who blessed the renovated school building. Also present were Fr Peter D'Souza, parish priest of Agrar, Fr Mark D'Souza, correspondent of the school and parish priest of Farla, Y F Kalawad the head master members of the school management committee, donors, teachers, students, parents, and parishioners.

In his address, Fr Leo Lasrado congratulated the school community on entering its centenary year and appreciated the collective efforts made to provide a better learning environment for the children.

Speaking on the occasion, Fr Mark D'Souza expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the benefactors and well-wishers. He acknowledged the generous support of The Prabhakar Bantwal Foundation for undertaking the complete renovation of the school building and sponsoring the teachers' salaries for the entire academic year. He also thanked Bernard and Jacintha Saldanha for renovating the outdoor stage and for their constant support. Special appreciation was extended to Michael Castelino, the SVP Farla unit, Placid D'Souza, women’s association, Farla, Catholic Sabha Farla, MCC Bank, Michael D'Souza and all the parishioners of Farla for their continued commitment towards the welfare of the school and their generous contributions for the repair works. He assured prayers for all the benefactors and their families.

The celebration reflected the spirit of harmony through interreligious prayers, followed by a colourful cultural programme presented by the students. The event concluded with a renewed commitment to carry forward the rich legacy of St Jacob's Higher Primary School as it begins its centenary journey with faith, gratitude, and hope.
