Mangaluru: Indiana Hospital announces special health card initiative

Mangaluru, Apr 6: On the occasion of World Health Day, observed annually on April 7, Indiana Hospital and Heart Institute has announced a special initiative aimed at enhancing patient care and making healthcare more accessible and affordable for the public.

World Health Day is celebrated every year to mark the anniversary of the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO). The theme for World Health Day 2026, ‘Together for health: Stand with science’, emphasizes collective action and scientific collaboration to protect the health of people, animals, plants, and the planet.

Announcing the initiative, Dr Nihal Ali Kumble, director of Indiana Hospital, said that health is a treasure that must be preserved with utmost care and that everyone should prioritise their well-being. He added that the hospital remains committed to providing compassionate care and quality treatment at affordable costs.

As part of the World Health Day celebrations, Indiana Hospital is offering its Indiana Health Card (Gold Card) at a special price of Rs 99 instead of Rs 399 for one week from April 8 to 14. Additionally, the hospital will issue the Indiana Privilege Card (Silver Card) free of cost to all outpatients and inpatients on April 7.

The health cards provide several benefits, including:

• 20% discount on in-house doctor consultation charges and OP procedures
• 15% discount on laboratory and radiology services
• 10% discount on IP services (excluding doctors’ fees, medicines, and consumables)
• 5% discount on OP medicine charges

Dr Ali Kumble, chairman of Indiana Hospital, said that the hospital is committed to caring for patients and reducing their financial burden. He stated that World Health Day is an ideal occasion to extend maximum benefits to patients and reaffirm the hospital’s commitment to quality healthcare services.

Strategically located at the convergence of three national highways, the NABH-accredited Indiana Hospital is a 300-bedded facility equipped with advanced medical technology and offers diagnostic and treatment services across more than 25 super-specialty and specialty departments, making it a one-stop destination for quality healthcare.

The hospital has also recently introduced laser angioplasty and has successfully performed over 200 procedures under the leadership of Dr Yusuf Kumble, managing director and chief interventional cardiologist.

Several dignitaries were present on the dais during the announcement, including Prof Dr Ali Kumble, Dr Apoorva Srijayadeva, Dr Adithya Bharadwaj, Dr Nihal Ali Kumble, and E Vijay Chandra. The discounted health card (gold card) was unveiled by Dr Shaheer and Dr Karthik Velmurugan.
