Mangaluru, Apr 13: The annual summer camp “LCS Culture Cove 2026” at Lourdes Central School was held from 27th March to 10th April 2026, offering students an enriching and vibrant experience filled with creativity, adventure, teamwork, and joyful learning. The camp was inaugurated on 27th March 2026 by Dr. Lovely George, Associate Professor of Pathology, A.J. Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, in the esteemed presence of Rev. Fr. Johnson L. Sequeira, Principal of Lourdes Central School, Vice Principal Ma’am Anita Thomas, and the dedicated Camp Coordinators Linet Pinto and Lolita Coelho. The dignitaries graced the occasion and set a positive tone for the camp. In her inspiring inaugural address, Dr Lovely George emphasized the importance of summer camps in the holistic development of children, encouraging students to participate wholeheartedly, discover their strengths, and enjoy every moment of learning beyond the classroom.

The camp opened with an energetic Ice-Breaking Session that helped campers build friendships, interact freely, and develop confidence. This was followed by lively Zumba and Dance sessions, where campers joyfully expressed themselves through rhythm and movement, filling the atmosphere with enthusiasm and energy. One of the most memorable moments of the inauguration was Dr Lovely George’s inspiring narration of “The Eagle and the Hen,” motivating campers to believe in themselves, rise above limitations, and aspire to achieve greater heights.

A total of 160 campers from Pre-Primary to Class 5 actively participated in a variety of engaging activities such as dance, games, Wealth Out of Waste projects, and personality development sessions. These activities nurtured creativity, leadership, teamwork, and communication skills among the participants.

Adding colour and excitement to the camp, different dress codes were assigned for each day, bringing vibrancy and festive spirit to the atmosphere. Campers enthusiastically dressed according to the theme of the day, enhancing their involvement, boosting confidence, and creating a lively and cheerful environment throughout the camp.

The campers were enthusiastically divided into three vibrant groups—Desi Dhamaka, Paradise Dhamaka, and Tribal Dhamaka—each representing a unique spirit and identity. Within these groups, students were further categorized according to their age levels: the KG campers became the “Happy Hoppers,” the students of Classes 1 and 2 formed the “Blazing Comets,” and the students of Classes 3 to 5 proudly took on the name “Power Panthers.” This thoughtful grouping fostered a sense of belonging, teamwork, healthy competition, and joyful participation.

A special highlight of the camp was the Quiz Wiz session conducted by Suneetha K and her team, along with the Q-Shala sessions led by Flavia During these sessions, an engaging card game similar to UNO was introduced, which helped develop quick thinking, strategy, observation, and decision-making skills among the campers.

As part of experiential learning, campers went on an educational outing on 1st April 2026 to Pilikula Guthhumane and Artisans Village. This visit provided students with an opportunity to experience rural life, explore nature, and learn beyond the classroom, deepening their appreciation for culture and the environment. Another exciting highlight was the Water Games and Rain Dance held on 6th April 2026, which filled the camp with joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories for the campers.

An important feature of the camp was the “Wealth Out of Waste” initiative, where campers and teachers creatively transformed reusable materials into decorative items and props. These handmade creations were proudly used during the grand finale performances, promoting sustainability, creativity, and teamwork. Throughout the camp, students were encouraged to stay away from digital distractions and actively engage in meaningful and creative activities that fostered confidence and social interaction. On the final day, students showcased their talents using the self-made props, reflecting the success of the activities and their learning experiences.

The summer camp concluded on 10th April 2026 with a joyful closing ceremony and a traditional campfire in the gracious presence of Fr Johnson L. Sequeira, principal Lourdes Central School, ma’am Anita Thomas, vice principal and the camp coordinators Linet Pinto and Lolita Coelho.
