Mumbai, Apr 12: Choreographer and dancer Shakti Mohan has said she is content with her life and does not feel compelled to follow societal expectations regarding marriage, relationships or motherhood.
Speaking to Siddharth Kannan, Shakti shared that she is frequently questioned about settling down, including by her own parents. However, she maintained that she does not feel anything is missing in her life.

“I am really enjoying my work and running my studio. I don’t feel that there is something missing. If I am happy this way, what is the problem?” she said, adding that she is open to a relationship only if she finds the right person.
The dancer confirmed that she is currently single and revealed that she has never felt the desire to have children. She said she does not have maternal instincts, though she enjoys being an affectionate aunt to her nephew.
Shakti also spoke about a past relationship in which she was cheated on, stating that she chose to walk away immediately despite being advised to forgive and continue.
Recalling the experience, she said the incident had a deep emotional impact and changed her perspective on relationships. “If boys are like this, I don’t want boys in my life,” she remarked.
Emphasising personal happiness over societal norms, Shakti said individuals should not feel pressured to conform and should instead live life on their own terms.
