Chennai, Apr 14: The BJP on Tuesday released its Tamil Nadu election manifesto, outlining a series of welfare and governance promises while mounting sharp criticism against the ruling DMK.

Party president JP Nadda, who unveiled the manifesto, said the release on Tamil New Year and the 150th birth anniversary of Dr B.R. Ambedkar made the occasion “auspicious.” He also highlighted Tamil Nadu’s cultural heritage, referring to it as the “cradle of the world’s oldest civilisation” and invoking the contributions of Thiruvalluvar and Subramania Bharati.

In its key poll assurances, the BJP announced Rs 2,000 per month for women heads of households, three free LPG cylinders annually, and a one-time Rs 10,000 assistance to every household to offset rising costs. The party also proposed Rs 25,000 subsidy for eligible women to purchase e-scooters, Rs 2,000 monthly support for those rearing jallikattu bulls, and Rs 10 lakh ex gratia in case of death of participants.

Additional promises include a 3% stamp duty concession for first-time women homebuyers, household assistance schemes, and coupons worth Rs 8,000 for essential goods.

The manifesto also proposed two-hour daily darshan slots in major temples for local residents and continuation of traditional Karthigai Deepam rituals, including lighting atop Thiruparankundram hill.

On governance issues, Nadda alleged a rise in drug-related offences and accused the DMK of corruption and family rule, citing alleged scams including cash-for-jobs and tender irregularities.

The BJP further promised law and order reforms, including implementation of Zero FIR, fast-track courts for serious crimes, and installation of CCTV cameras in public institutions and transport systems to enhance safety.
