Mumbai, Apr 16: Bollywood and television actor Mona Singh has spoken candidly about societal expectations surrounding marriage and motherhood, saying she has never allowed such pressures to influence her personal choices.
In an interview with IANS, Mona Singh said she has consistently chosen to live life independently, without being affected by recurring questions about marriage or settling down.
“I have never taken to these pressures. I have never given in to these pressures,” she said, adding that such expectations have followed her since her early career days.

She recalled being repeatedly asked personal questions before marriage, but emphasized that she has always focused on living life on her own terms. “You’re only answerable to yourself,” she said, stressing personal responsibility in life decisions.
The actor further noted that external opinions and judgments are inevitable but should not dictate one’s emotional well-being or choices. “It’s people’s job to say things… but it’s not our job to get affected,” she said.
Mona Singh first rose to fame with the popular television series Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin (2003), where her portrayal of the titular character made her a household name and a cultural phenomenon.
Over the years, she has worked across television, films, and OTT platforms, including appearances in films such as Laal Singh Chaddha and web projects like Bads of Bollywood.
She was also recently seen in Maa Ka Sam, continuing her steady presence across diverse entertainment formats.
