Mangaluru, Apr 22: Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds lashed the city in the early hours of Wednesday, April 22, causing a massive branch of a peepal tree to collapse at Ashwath Katte near Basavana Gudi in Chammar Galli around 3:30 am.

The falling branch crashed onto two houses and three two-wheelers parked nearby. While the two houses sustained partial damage, two of the two-wheelers were completely crushed under the weight of the debris.

Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported as the residents were inside their homes at the time of the incident.

The collapse resulted in the blockage of the local road, and the public subsequently cordoned off the area for safety. Local authorities and the police have been informed of the incident to initiate the clearance of the debris and restore movement in the area.
