Udupi, Apr 25: The body of a missing lecturer was found in a well on Saturday, April 25. Police suspect that he may have died by suicide by jumping into the well.
The deceased has been identified as Ganapathi Bhat (55), a native of Sirsi, who was working as a lecturer at a Sanskrit college in the city. Unmarried, he was residing alone in a rented accommodation in Kunjibettu.
According to police sources, a missing person case had been registered at the city police station following his disappearance. After a search operation, his body was located in a nearby well.

Fire brigade personnel assisted in retrieving the body from the well. Sub-Inspector Narayan, along with staff members Ganesh D and investigation assistant Jaswa from the city police station, carried out the inquest and other legal formalities.
Social worker Nityanand Volkadu extended support by helping transport the body to the district hospital for post-mortem examination.
Further investigation is underway.
