Udupi, Apr 29: A major error by the SSLC Examination Board led to a student from Mogeri losing as many as 50 marks, and the issue has now come to light.
Sameeksha, a student of Uppunda Government Pre-University College, had appeared for the SSLC examination and secured Kannada - 122, English - 95, Mathematics - 84, Science - 84, Social Science - 98, and Hindi - 44 marks.
The unusually low score of 44 in Hindi came as a severe shock to the student. Since she had scored excellent marks in all other subjects, her parents were left wondering why the Hindi score was so low.

When the matter was discussed with teachers, they advised the family to obtain copies of the answer scripts. Accordingly, the copies were procured and examined. It was then found that the total marks in Hindi were actually 94.
However, instead of 94, only 44 had been entered in the marks card, causing the discrepancy. The board has now rectified its mistake, and Sameeksha has received the missing 50 marks. Her parents have expressed relief over the correction.
