Kundapur, May 5: In a swift operation, the Kota police successfully traced a 17-year-old student in Sakleshpur who had gone missing fearing poor results in the recently held NEET examination.

The student has been identified as Abhishek, a resident of Kota Moorkai. A second PU student, he was residing in a hostel. Abhishek appeared for the NEET exam in Udupi on May 3. On May 4, he called his mother in Hassan and informed her that he was heading to Manipal from his home.

When he failed to return by evening, his anxious parents began a search. They soon discovered a note left behind by him, in which he expressed his fear of scoring low marks in the competitive exam.

A complaint was registered at the Kota police station. The police immediately launched an investigation and tracked his movements. Distressed over the exam, Abhishek had reportedly traveled to Dharmasthala and was en route to Sakleshpur. The police successfully located him in Sakleshpur and are currently bringing him back safely, sources said.

Today's education means memorising (without knowing the meaning), writing (omitting) in the exams and getting 90 above marks. That's all. No character building. Just now Nepal started education without books for Std. I to IV.

Today knowing all the opportunities available in various fields an exam marks should not determine Life's future and make individuals life miserable -- many are in silent depression and do not realize their true talent and potential - societal pressures-- - mere mugging and scoring have been the order of the day - we do not have a questioning mind -- hence very poor innovations coming out of INDIA -- only COPYCAT type of technology etc. etc. --WE NEED GOOD COUNSELLING IN SCHOOLS -

Great work by our police, salute to them. It is better if the student is given some psychological help.
