Another milestone at 77: Siddaramaiah now India's oldest CM

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru

Bengaluru, May 6: At 77, Siddaramaiah has now achieved the distinction of being the oldest sitting chief minister in the country.

Previously, 82-year-old Pinarayi Vijayan held this position. However, following his resignation after his party's defeat in the recent Kerala assembly elections, Siddaramaiah has moved to the top spot among the country's oldest serving chief ministers.

Recently, Siddaramaiah also etched his name in history by setting the record for the 'longest-serving chief minister' in Karnataka. Serving his second term as chief minister, he equalled the record of Devaraj Urs, who was in office for 2,792 days, on January 6, 2026. By surpassing this milestone, he has firmly established himself as the longest-serving chief minister in the state's history.

This development has sparked discussions in political circles, once again drawing attention to Siddaramaiah's vast political experience and enduring administration.

A leader is someone who understands the direction, leads by example, and guides others toward achieving a shared goal. Siddaramaiah fills the gap to be a leader who rules by wisdom, decades of good governance qualities and equal justice irrespective of community or religion bias. His smile says it all.
