Bengaluru, May 7: The Karnataka government on Wednesday revoked the suspension order issued against DGP K Ramachandra Rao and reinstated him into service with immediate effect.
According to the official order, the 1993-batch IPS officer has been appointed as director general of police (Police Manual) with immediate effect and until further orders.
The post has been considered equivalent to the rank of CID DGP. The order was issued by B S Sanjay, additional secretary, department of personnel and administrative reforms. Sources said that Ramachandra Rao is scheduled to retire from service on May 31.

Ramachandra Rao, who was serving as DGP of the Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement, had been suspended on January 19 following allegations of inappropriate behaviour with a woman in his office. An inquiry into the matter had also been ordered at the time.
The government has now withdrawn the suspension order and reinstated him into service with immediate effect.
Videos allegedly showing Rao in objectionable circumstances with the woman had gone viral on news channels and social media platforms.
