Udupi, May 7: After days of intense summer heat, Udupi district received heavy rainfall on Thursday, May 7, bringing much-needed relief to residents across the region.

Heavy showers accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms were witnessed in several parts of Udupi city and surrounding areas. The sudden change in weather significantly brought down temperatures, offering respite to people who had been struggling with scorching heat over the past few weeks.

The heavy rain also led to temporary waterlogging in some low-lying areas of the city, causing inconvenience to motorists and pedestrians. Several commuters were seen taking shelter as the rain lashed the region for a prolonged period.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), pre-monsoon showers are likely to continue across coastal Karnataka over the next few days, with chances of further rainfall and thunderstorms in isolated places.
