Puttur: Worker crushed to death under road roller during highway work

Puttur, May 9: A labourer was killed after allegedly coming under a road roller during road construction work near Gandhi Park in Uppinangady on Friday.

According to sources, service road work was under way as part of the ongoing four-lane national highway project in the area. During the work, the victim was reportedly lying by the roadside when the road roller ran over him.

The impact of the accident was so severe that the worker died on the spot and the body was badly crushed.

Preliminary reports suggest that the deceased was a migrant labourer from North India. His identity and further details are yet to be confirmed.

Police are expected to conduct further investigation into the incident.

    O my God a worst death one can have.Why noone was controlling?Contractor was responsible for this.Always these workers die from north India who come here to work and support their family.No garantie ,not even identity many times ,Very hard ,Heartfelt sympathies to family.Contractor should be put in prison ad pay for the family.May his soul rest in peace.

    The road roller operator must be held responsible....worst possible death a person can have.... may his soul rest in peace if not keep haunting the road roller operator for the rest of his life.
