Mumbai, May 10: Actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra is set to host ‘Maa Hai Na’, a new Hindi comedy cooking show announced by ZEE5 on Sunday.

The 10-episode non-fiction series will feature six Gen Z celebrities along with their mothers in a mix of cooking challenges, emotional conversations and family bonding moments.

Produced by Lil Frodo Productions House, the show explores the clash and connection between modern Gen Z lifestyles and traditional maternal wisdom through the backdrop of a kitchen.

According to the makers, the series highlights “what happens when two generations are forced to truly listen to each other one recipe at a time.”

The show will feature mother-child pairs navigating miscommunication, pressure, affection and emotional reconnect while cooking together. The platform described the kitchen as a space where memories, nostalgia, laughter, arguments and emotions unfold beyond food.

The contestants announced for the show include Sunita Ahuja with daughter Tina Ahuja, Urvashi Dholakia with son Kshitij Dholakia, Tanya Mittal with mother Sunita Mittal, Gullu with mother Munesh Tanwar, Shahida Ansari with nephew Afghan, and Bhagyashre E Sharma with mother Rinju Sharma.

Speaking about the show, Kaveri Das, Chief Channel Officer of &TV and Business Head of Hindi ZEE5, said the concept reflects the emotional bond shared between mothers and children while presenting it in a fresh and relatable format for younger audiences.

She said the show combines the humour and chaos of Gen Z life with the warmth and wisdom that mothers bring, while also reflecting modern family dynamics.

Producers Neeti and Preeti said the show was designed to go beyond a conventional cooking format and capture the emotional fabric of Indian households.

They added that working with Shilpa Shetty Kundra as host brought the right balance of warmth, relatability and energy to the series.

Described as heartwarming, emotional and humorous, ‘Maa Hai Na’ is scheduled to stream soon on Hindi ZEE5.
