Meerra Chopra backs Ravi Mohan amid divorce controversy

Daijiworld Media Network - Chennai

Chennai, May 17: The ongoing divorce dispute between Tamil actor Ravi Mohan and his estranged wife Aarti Ravi intensified further after actor Meerra Chopra publicly extended support to Ravi following his emotional press conference.

Meerra Chopra, cousin of actress Priyanka Chopra, reacted on X after reading reports about Ravi Mohan’s statements regarding his troubled marriage and personal struggles.

Sharing photographs of the actor along with excerpts from his statements, Meerra wrote that men should also be heard during marital disputes and alleged that some women misuse laws that are tilted in their favour.

“I know this guy as #JeyamRavi. Knew him quite well when I was working in South movies. Just read about his divorce. My two cents would be — man is not the one who is wrong all the time. I am coming across a lot of women taking advantage of laws that are skewed towards women. A man should be heard too. I know him as an extremely sweet and simple guy. I hope he finds his truth and justice,” she wrote.

During the recent press conference, Ravi Mohan made several emotional allegations about his marriage and announced that he would not act in films until his divorce proceedings are completed.

“Enough is enough. I refrained from opening up all these days. Now, the time has come,” he said while addressing the media.

The actor also became emotional while speaking about his personal life and claimed he was unable to meet his sons.

“They are not letting me meet my sons. My sons are being assisted by bodyguards. I entered marriage against the will of my parents. I am paying the price now for doing that,” he alleged.

Ravi further claimed that he had engaged in self-harm during difficult phases of his marriage but continued working despite his condition.

The actor also criticised what he described as misuse of feminism and alleged that cyberbullying had severely affected people close to him, including Keneeshaa Francis.

Without naming anyone directly, Ravi also made remarks about a “three-letter-named actress”, which triggered speculation on social media.

Shortly after the press interaction, Aarti Ravi shared a strongly worded message on Instagram.

“You never wake a sleeping lion. God help if she's a mamma lion. My dignified silence should never be mistaken for weakness,” she wrote.

She added that she would speak out if necessary to protect her children and dignity.

Actor-politician Khushbu Sundar expressed support for Aarti and commented, “Never mess with a mother. And you are a lioness with her cubs.”

The controversy intensified after social media users linked Ravi’s “three-letter actress” remark to Khushbu Sundar, following which the actor-politician also posted a cryptic message online.

The divorce proceedings between Ravi Mohan and Aarti Ravi are currently underway. The couple, who married in 2009 after dating for several years, have two sons.
