Anupam Kher supports PM Modi’s fuel-saving appeal, travels by train to promote sustainability

Mumbai, May 18: Anupam Kher has expressed support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for citizens to adopt fuel-saving and environmentally conscious travel habits, sharing a personal example of choosing public transport over private vehicles.

The veteran actor revealed through a social media post that he travelled from Jaipur to New Delhi by train, describing it as a small but meaningful step towards contributing to the national effort to reduce fuel consumption.

In a video message shared online, Kher said the Prime Minister has urged citizens to use public transport wherever possible, avoid unnecessary car usage for short distances, and adopt practices such as carpooling to conserve petrol and diesel.

He emphasised that such changes may appear minor individually but can create a significant collective impact if adopted widely.

According to him, responsible citizenship is not limited to large actions but is also reflected in everyday lifestyle choices.

Kher stated that he travelled on the Vande Bharat Express and described the decision as a practical example of supporting the broader initiative. He added that shared travel, such as multiple people using a single vehicle, can help reduce fuel consumption and environmental burden.

The actor also noted that contributing to the country does not always require large sacrifices, but rather consistent small efforts that become part of daily life. He encouraged people to rethink routine travel habits and consider more sustainable alternatives when possible.

His remarks align with the government’s ongoing emphasis on promoting energy conservation and reducing dependency on fossil fuels through behavioural changes among citizens.
