Chennai, May 18: The much-anticipated film Seyon officially commenced production with a traditional pooja ceremony held in Madurai, marking the start of shooting amid strong buzz in the Tamil film industry.
The project is directed by Sivakumar Murugesan and features actor Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, with Baghyashrii Borse making her debut in Tamil cinema as the female lead.
The film is jointly produced by RaajKamal Films International and Turmeric Media, with veteran actor Kamal Haasan playing a key role as producer under his banner.

The announcement of the project was made through the production house’s official social media handle, confirming the commencement of shooting with a celebratory note and tagging the core cast and crew involved in the film.
A day prior to the launch, director Sivakumar Murugesan shared behind-the-scenes moments from his meeting with Kamal Haasan, describing the experience as a milestone moment in his filmmaking journey. He also revealed that he received a signed agreement from the veteran actor, marking his formal association with the project.
The film has already generated significant attention following the release of its glimpse video titled “The Celebration”, which depicts a rural festival backdrop in Madurai and hints at a story rooted in local traditions, conflict, and social dynamics.
Set against the backdrop of the Maasi Kalari festival in a village temple setting, the teaser showcases incidents involving clashes among festival attendees, police intervention, and mysterious elements tied to cultural beliefs and possession rituals.
The narrative suggests a rural commercial entertainer with strong emotional and action-driven elements, featuring Sivakarthikeyan in a powerful and intense role.
The film also marks a reunion between Sivakarthikeyan and RaajKamal Films International following their earlier collaboration on Amaran, which received both critical acclaim and box office success.
With music by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography by Vivek Vijayakumar, and editing by San Lokesh, Seyon is shaping up as a major rural drama project and is expected to release later this year.
