Mumbai, May 20: Rumours surrounding the alleged hospitalisation of Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan triggered concern among fans on Tuesday night, though later reports indicated that the actor had only visited a hospital for a routine medical check-up.
Speculation began after senior journalist Vickey Lalwani claimed in a video posted on his YouTube channel that the 83-year-old actor had been admitted to Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital since May 16 due to stomach-related issues.

According to the claims, Bachchan was reportedly under observation in the hospital’s VIP wing and was said to be recovering steadily.
However, news agency PTI later reported that the hospitalisation claims were untrue.
Quoting a source, PTI stated that Amitabh Bachchan had only visited Nanavati Hospital on Saturday for his routine monthly health examination and returned home shortly afterwards.
“He went in for a routine health check-up and came back home. He usually goes every month for a check-up,” the source reportedly said.
Amid the ongoing speculation, Bachchan also shared a cryptic post on his blog late Tuesday night.
In the Hindi poem shared on his blog, the veteran actor appeared to indirectly respond to the rumours and public chatter. A translated version of the lines suggested: “When the eagle becomes quiet, parrots begin to speak.”
The post quickly drew attention online, with fans interpreting it as a subtle reaction to the reports surrounding his health.
Adding to the clarity over the situation, the actor had also appeared outside his Juhu residence on Sunday for his regular weekly interaction with fans, popularly known as his Sunday darshan.
Sharing photographs from the gathering on his blog, Bachchan wrote emotionally about the joy of meeting well-wishers and hearing their cheers.
“I go in from the house to meet the well-wishers… and then I hear the cheers, and the adrenaline activates,” he wrote, describing the experience as a blessing.
On the professional front, Amitabh Bachchan recently completed hosting duties for “Kaun Banega Crorepati” Season 17.
He is next expected to appear in the courtroom drama “Section 84” and is also reportedly shooting for the sequel to the sci-fi film “Kalki 2898 AD”.
