Udupi, May 23: A portion of the road near RSB Circle in Manipal, allegedly dug up for certain work, had turned into a major safety hazard for motorists and commuters for several weeks, leading to repeated accidents and inconvenience to the public.
According to local residents and commuters, the dug-up stretch was left unattended without proper restoration work being carried out. Motorists, especially two-wheeler riders, reportedly lost control after hitting the damaged portion of the road, resulting in several minor accidents in the area.

The issue gained attention after a report highlighting the dangerous condition of the road was published by Daijiworld.com on the morning of May 23. Following the report, authorities concerned reportedly initiated immediate action and asphalted the damaged portion by evening.
Asphalt patchwork was subsequently carried out to restore the road and ensure safer movement for commuters. Authorities are urged to ensure that roads dug up for utility or maintenance works are properly restored without delay in future to prevent accidents and inconvenience to the public.
