Hebri: Tree falls on road, traffic blocked on Agumbe Ghat

Daijiworld Media Network – Hebri

Hebri, May 24: Traffic on the Agumbe Ghat, which connects the coastal region to the Malnad region, was disrupted for nearly an hour on Saturday evening after a tree fell across the road near the second curve within the Udupi district limits.

The incident exacerbated the existing congestion on the ghat stretch. With a recent surge in tourists visiting the area, vehicular density has heavily increased, resulting in daily traffic jams.

Furthermore, motorists and locals have raised an alarm over several dangerous trees leaning towards the road at various curves along the ghat, posing a high risk of crashing down during heavy winds and rain. Additionally, the damaged retaining walls along the stretch remain unrepaired.

With the monsoon season fast approaching, the public has expressed widespread dissatisfaction over the apathy of the concerned authorities, urging them to take immediate preventive measures before any major mishap occurs.
