Karkala, Jun 1: The reopening ceremony of Christ King English Medium Primary School in Karkala was held in a grand manner, marked by a unique welcome from a robot teacher.

The institution’s newly installed AI-powered robot teacher, named Christy, greeted guests by presenting flowers. The robot also engaged in a brief interactive session with students, creating excitement and enthusiasm among the children.

The new academic year was formally inaugurated with students lighting ceremonial lamps. Dr Guruprasad, a professor at Alva’s Engineering College, demonstrated the activities and capabilities of the robot teacher during the event.

I Christopher Kotian, principal of the primary section, briefed students and parents about the school’s rules and activities. Presiding over the function, Dr Peter Fernandes, member of the Christ King Education Trust, said that the institution takes pride in being the first in Karkala to introduce an AI-based robot teacher. He encouraged students to embrace innovation and strive for academic excellence.

Josna Snehalatha, headmistress of the high school, and C Jolly Jacob, vice principal of the primary school, were present on the dais.

The programme began with a welcome address by Jayalakshmi, was compered by Alice Lobo, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Ramita.
