Panaji, Jun 6: The Goa government is set to introduce a QR code-based monitoring system under its ‘Harit Goa, Swachh Goa’ initiative to improve transparency and strengthen the tracking of tree plantation activities across the state.
Under the proposed system, citizens will be able to access information related to plantation sites, sapling distribution and the officials responsible for implementing the programme by scanning QR codes. The initiative is aimed at enhancing public participation while ensuring effective monitoring and management of afforestation efforts.
The statewide campaign will be implemented through coordinated efforts of multiple government departments, including the Forest Department, Agriculture Department, Public Works Department and Public Health Engineering Department.

The Goa State Pollution Control Board and the Goa Biodiversity Board have also been assigned key responsibilities in the execution of the initiative.
Officials said the use of technology will help improve accountability, facilitate real-time monitoring and provide greater transparency in plantation-related activities.
The government expects the initiative to encourage community participation in afforestation programmes while supporting efforts to expand Goa’s green cover and promote environmental conservation across the state.
