Mumbai, Jun 9: Actor Danish Pandor has shared his experience of working with acclaimed filmmaker Imtiaz Ali in the upcoming film Main Vaapas Aaunga, describing the director as a calm, focused and deeply intuitive storyteller who brings out the best in his actors.
Speaking about his role in the film, Danish revealed that he auditioned for the project shortly before the release of his previous venture and had already completed filming his portions well ahead of the movie’s theatrical debut. While details of his character remain under wraps, the actor hinted that his special appearance carries significant weight in the narrative.
Recalling his experience on set, Danish said one of the most striking aspects of working with Imtiaz Ali was the director’s hands-on approach during performances. Rather than monitoring scenes through a screen, Ali preferred to stand directly in front of actors, observing every nuance of their performance.
According to Danish, the experience felt similar to performing in a live theatre production, with the filmmaker watching closely and engaging with the actors in real time. He described the approach as both unique and rewarding.
The actor also praised Ali’s personality and working style, calling him exceptionally humble, composed and clear about his creative vision. Danish noted that the director has a remarkable ability to understand exactly what he wants from a performer and patiently guide actors toward delivering the desired emotion and authenticity on screen.
Although he refrained from revealing specifics about his role, Danish said audiences would find his character meaningful to the overall storyline despite its limited screen time.
The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari Wagh and Vedang Raina in key roles.
Adding to the anticipation, the film’s music has been composed by A. R. Rahman, while the lyrics have been penned by Irshad Kamil.
Produced by Birla Studios, Applause Entertainment and Window Seat Films, the film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on June 12, 2026.
