Puttur: Absconding POCSO case accused arrested in Bengaluru

Puttur, Jun 10: The Puttur Town police have arrested a 32-year-old man who had been absconding for a long time after being booked in a POCSO case in 2018.

The arrested accused has been identified as Naman Nayak (32), a resident of Narimogeru in Puttur. Acting on specific inputs, a police team tracked him down and apprehended him at Kudlu Gate in Bengaluru.

A case had been registered against Naman Naik at the Puttur Town police station under Crime No. 53/2018. He was booked under Sections 448 (house-trespass), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

As the accused failed to appear before the court for hearings, a standing warrant had been issued against him. Following his arrest, the police produced him before the court, which remanded him to 15 days of judicial custody.
