FMCI hosts week-long seminar series in observance of International Yoga Day 2026

Mangaluru, Jun 13: Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI), in association with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru, and Delampady Yoga Prathistana, Konchady, commenced a week-long series of Yoga Seminars in observance of International Yoga Day 2026 at the Father Muller Indoor Stadium, Mangaluru.

The seminar series, being held from June 12 to 20 under the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging’, aims to create awareness about the importance of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and a balanced lifestyle.

The chief guest, Yogaratna Sri Gopalakrishna Delampady, District Rajyotsava Awardee and renowned yoga instructor, has dedicated more than four decades to the promotion of yoga and healthy living. Through his tireless efforts, he has trained thousands of individuals and continues to inspire people of all age groups to embrace yoga as a way of life for physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Michael L Santhumayor, administrator, FMMC, FMCOAHS, and FMCOP, emphasised the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life and highlighted its role in fostering holistic health and wellness.

Among the dignitaries present were Dr Antony Sylvan D'Souza, dean, Father Muller Medical College; Dr Shivashankara A R, principal, Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences; Sr Dr Dhanya Devasia, principal, Father Muller College and School of Nursing; Prof Cherishma D'Silva, principal, Father Muller College of Physiotherapy; and Prof Cynthia Santhumayor, principal Father Muller college of Speech and Hearing.

Students from the constituent institutions of Father Muller Charitable Institutions attended the inaugural programme.

Dr Shailaja Katti, NSS programme officer, Father Muller Medical College, introduced the chief guest and yoga instructor.

The programme was compered by Valerie Ann Lobo, NSS programme officer, Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences.

Following the inauguration ceremony, Yogaratna Sri Gopalakrishna Delampady and his team commenced the yoga sessions, introducing participants to various yogic practices aimed at improving physical health, mental focus, and overall well-being.

The week-long programme will continue until June 20 and will culminate in a grand celebration of International Yoga Day 2026 on June 20, providing students with practical training and insights into yoga as a pathway to healthier living and lifelong wellness.
