Mangaluru: Expert hosts first-ever alumni meet, reuniting batches from 1986 to 2008

Mangaluru, Jun 16: Expert Group of Institutions, Mangaluru, hosted its first-ever alumni meet, bringing together the coaching batches of 1986 to 2008, at Ocean Pearl under the theme "Reconnect, Relive, Reunite.”

The formal inauguration began with the lighting of the lamp, followed by a welcome address by Prof Narendra L Nayak, founder and chairman of Expert Group of Institutions.

Reflecting on the journey of Expert Coaching Classes since its inception in 1986, Prof Nayak recalled its humble beginnings alongside his brother, CA S S Nayak. He noted that the institution had not only shaped his professional life but had also given him lifelong relationships and an extended family. Emphasising that the greatest satisfaction of a teacher lies in seeing students excel beyond their mentors.

A special presentation, ‘Expert – From one classroom to a lifelong community’ by Ankush N Nayak, director – IT, traced the institution's remarkable evolution from a small coaching centre to one of Karnataka's leading educational institutions.

Presentation by Dr Ushaprabha Nayak, vice chairperson, titled "The Journey of Expert or My Journey with Expert," blended personal experiences with the institution's growth. She reflected on her journey from a student and faculty member to vice chairperson. Summarising the institution's growth, she said that, “Expert had evolved from a single classroom with 52 students to a vibrant campus with 52 classrooms.” She also credited the dedication of Team Expert and generations of students.

Dr. Shivabasava Swamy, founder of Sri Mruthyunjaya Health Care and Davangere Child Care Hospitals and an alumnus of the 2004–06 batch, presented his vision on "Expert Seva Divas," highlighting the institution's social service initiatives and community outreach programmes. Reflecting on the impact of Expert on generations of students, he remarked, “Whatever we are today, Expert has been the source that shaped our journey.”

Looking ahead to the Expert institution's golden jubilee, Dr Swamy urged alumni to contribute meaningfully to society as a tribute to their alma mater and see that collectively the alumni work together for Expert to get its Gandhi Peace Prize from the President in 2036.

The nostalgic segment, "Down the Memory Lane," proved to be an emotional highlight as alumni revisited incidents, and milestones from their student days. Distinguished alumnus Dr Sajjan Shenoy, a Rheumatologist and former CET first-rank holder, shared his experiences and reflected on the values instilled by the institution.

The gathering brought together accomplished professionals from medicine, engineering, academia, business, and finance. Among the distinguished alumni and invitees present were CA S S Nayak, CA Shantharam Shetty, CA Srinivas Kamath, Dr Jostol Pinto, Mahesh Kamath, Vinod A R Pinto, and several other alumni who have made notable contributions in their respective fields.

The event was also attended by member of management Ar Deepika A Nayak, also a coaching alumnus and trustee, Ustaad Rafiq Khan

The gathering culminated with a group photograph and gala dinner, marking a historic reunion. It laid the foundation for a stronger alumni network that is expected to contribute meaningfully to the future growth and vision of Expert Group of Institutions. The networking session, allowed alumni to reconnect with classmates, teachers, and mentors after several years.
