Mangaluru, Jun 19: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in Dakshina Kannada (DK) district for four consecutive days starting from June 21.
Dakshina Kannada district received good rainfall during the early hours of Thursday, while cloudy weather prevailed for most of the day.
Meanwhile, despite the forecast of heavy rain, concerns have been raised over the intensifying El Niño phenomenon. Reports indicate that the strengthening El Niño could result in a significant rainfall deficit across the state during the southwest monsoon season from June to September.

The contrasting forecasts have sparked concern among weather observers and the farming community, as the monsoon season plays a crucial role in the state's agriculture and water resources.
