Mangaluru, Jun 23: Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru solemnly held its investiture ceremony 2026–27, marking the formal induction of the newly appointed student leaders entrusted with the responsibility of serving the school family. The ceremony was graced by the presence of the esteemed chief guest, Narasimha Murthy, manager, Deccan Herald–Prajavani, Mangaluru region, accompanied by his colleague Sathish. principal Sr Melissa, vice principal Sr Jovita, staff members, and students were also present on the occasion.

The programme commenced with a dignified procession of leadership, led by the NCC cadets, followed by the flag bearers, house leaders, assistant house leaders, club leaders, cabinet ministers, assistant ministers, and the newly appointed head girl Aloma Lobo of Grade X and head boy Arush Suraj Ullal of Grade XII. The student leaders paid tribute to the School Flag, reaffirming their commitment to uphold the values and traditions of their alma mater.

A meaningful prayer service with a special prayer for leadership, invoked god’s blessings upon the student leaders and the entire school community. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp symbolized the triumph of knowledge over ignorance and goodness over darkness.

In her welcome address, head girl Aloma Lobo warmly welcomed the gathering and expressed gratitude for the presence of the distinguished guests. She introduced the chief guest Narasimha Murthy, highlighting his more than three decades of experience in the newspaper and media industry and his remarkable contributions in media management, public relations, marketing, brand building, and community engagement. She also acknowledged the visionary leadership of principal Sr Melissa, the guidance of vice principal Sr Jovita, the dedication of the teachers, the enthusiasm of the school cabinet, and the active participation of the students.

The highlight of the ceremony was the formal investiture of the student leaders. In a unique and touching segment, the alma mater personified as a caring guide, interacted with the student leaders and lovingly entrusted them with their responsibilities.

The student leaders, in turn, respectfully accepted their roles and promised to carry out their duties with dedication, integrity, and a spirit of service. The head girl and head boy were vested with their sashes and badges by the chief guest and the principal. The principal then administered the oath of office to them where they pledged to uphold the honour and traditions of the school with sincerity, integrity, and dedication. The cabinet ministers, assistant ministers, house leaders, assistant house leaders, and club leaders also took their respective oaths, promising to serve the school community with commitment, responsibility, and teamwork.

Addressing the gathering, chief guest Narasimha Murthy encouraged the young leaders to embrace leadership as a call to service rather than authority and to lead with integrity, humility, and vision. He also motivated the students to cultivate a regular reading habit, emphasizing that reading broadens knowledge, enhances communicative skills, nurtures critical thinking and plays a vital role in personal and academic growth.

In her address, principal Sr Melissa, congratulated the newly inducted student leaders and emphasized that leadership is rooted in responsibility, service and team work. She encouraged the head girl, head boy and other leaders to lead by example, inspire participation, foster excellence in all school activities and remain true to the school motto ‘Higher and Nobler’.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by the head boy Arush Suraj Ullal, followed by the School Anthem rendered by the school choir. The programme was ably compered by Anurag Monteiro and Adithi Kottari, who guided the proceedings with confidence and poise.

The event marked the beginning of a new chapter of student leadership, inspiring the young leaders to lead by example and contribute to the positive growth of the school. The newly invested leaders embarked on their journey with a renewed enthusiasm and a firm commitment to uphold the cherished values and traditions of Mount Carmel Central School throughout the academic year 2026–27.
