Srinivas University hosts medical simulation workshop

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jul 6: The Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Srinivas University, successfully organised a medical simulation workshop on ‘Building Confidence and Clinical Competence’, aimed at equipping students with practical clinical skills, improving decision-making abilities, and enhancing patient safety through simulation-based learning.

The workshop brought together students from various allied health science programmes and provided them with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a simulated clinical environment.

The programme focused on bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-life patient care by enabling participants to practise essential medical procedures using advanced simulation techniques.

Faculty members and clinical experts guided students through a series of structured simulation exercises covering emergency response, patient assessment, communication skills, clinical decision-making, basic life support, infection control measures, and teamwork in healthcare settings. The participants were trained to manage different clinical scenarios while adhering to standard patient safety protocols.

The workshop emphasised experiential learning, allowing students to develop confidence in handling medical emergencies, improve critical thinking, and strengthen their practical competencies before entering hospital and community healthcare settings. Interactive sessions, demonstrations, scenario-based simulations, and debriefing discussions enabled participants to analyse their performance and identify areas for improvement.

Addressing the participants, the organisers highlighted the growing importance of simulation-based education in modern healthcare, stating that such training enhances clinical competence, minimises errors, and prepares future healthcare professionals to deliver safe and effective patient care.

The programme also encouraged interdisciplinary collaboration by fostering communication and coordination among students from different allied health disciplines, reflecting the team-based approach followed in hospitals and healthcare institutions.

Students appreciated the workshop for providing realistic clinical exposure and an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in simulated patient-care situations. They noted that the practical sessions helped improve their confidence, technical skills, and preparedness for clinical postings.

The organisers reiterated Srinivas University's commitment to providing industry-oriented and competency-based education through innovative teaching methodologies, ensuring that students are well-prepared to meet the evolving demands of the healthcare sector. The workshop concluded with an interactive feedback session and the distribution of participation certificates.
