Mangaluru, Jul 7: Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Mangalore, in association with the IPA Local Branch, Mangaluru, organized an Industry–Institution Interaction Expert Lecture on July 7. The session focused on the topic 'Challenges in Implementing the Revised Schedule M Guidelines', providing students and faculty with valuable insights into current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and the revised regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical industries.
The expert lecture was delivered by Ramachandra Ganiga, assistant manager-quality assurance, Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Ltd (KAPL), Bengaluru, and a proud alumnus of Srinivas College of Pharmacy. He delivered an informative and engaging presentation on the revised Schedule M Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines. He elaborated on the major revisions introduced in Schedule M, the challenges faced by pharmaceutical industries during implementation, quality assurance requirements, documentation practices, risk management, infrastructure upgrades, personnel training, validation processes, and the importance of maintaining global quality standards. He also shared practical experiences from KAPL and discussed how regulatory compliance contributes to producing safe, effective, and high-quality pharmaceutical products.

The interactive session that followed enabled students and faculty members to clarify their doubts regarding GMP implementation, regulatory inspections, and career opportunities in pharmaceutical quality assurance.
Dr A R Shabaraya, principal and director, Srinivas College of Pharmacy in his presidential address, he stressed the importance of strengthening industry–academia collaboration and encouraged students to acquire practical knowledge that complements their academic learning.
Dr Padma P Prabhu, professor welcomed the gathering and introduced the resource person. She highlighted the significance of the revised Schedule M guidelines and emphasized the need for pharmacy professionals to stay updated with changing regulatory standards. Prof Prakash V Mallya, coordinator CPPA, Srinivas College of Pharmacy Mangalore and Dr Kumara Prasad, professor, SCP & vice president, IPA local branch, Mangaluru, were present during the programme.
