Beltangady man wanted in theft case for 3 years nabbed in Mangaluru; produced before court

Mangaluru, Jul 7: Vittal police have arrested a theft case accused who had been evading court proceedings for three years and brought him before the law.

The accused, identified as Rajesh (41), a resident of Beltangady, was wanted in connection with Vittal police station Crime No. 204/2018 under Section 379 of the IPC (theft).

Police said Rajesh had failed to appear before the competent court during the trial proceedings and had remained absconding for nearly three years.

Acting on information, a team from Vittal police station comprising ASI Jayaram and police personnel CPC 2355 Venkatappa and CPC 2462 Shivananda traced and arrested him in Mangaluru on July 6, 2026.

The accused was subsequently produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
