Woman loses valuables worth Rs 9 lac in Rajdhani Express theft near Goa

Panaji, Jul 9: A woman from Navi Mumbai allegedly lost valuables worth around Rs 9 lakh after her handbag was stolen while travelling on the Rajdhani Express through Goa, police said.

The theft reportedly occurred in the early hours of July 2 between Canacona and Balli railway stations. The victim, identified as Sita Mundadi, later lodged a complaint with the Konkan Railway Police Station.

According to police, Mundadi was travelling from Kannur in Kerala to Thane when the incident took place. At around 4.45 am, while she was asleep near Balli railway station, an unidentified person allegedly stole the handbag from her shoulder.

The stolen handbag reportedly contained a 20-gram gold chain, an 8-gram gold pendant, a mobile phone, cash, ATM cards and other valuables. The total value of the stolen items has been estimated at around Rs 9 lakh.

Based on the complaint, police have registered a case against an unidentified accused under Section 305(c) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The investigation is being led by Sub-Inspector Viplav Vast under the supervision of Police Inspector Vikram Naik.
