Manama, Jul 7: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday met Bahrain's Deputy Prime Minister Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa to review bilateral relations and explore ways to further strengthen cooperation across a range of sectors.

Following the meeting, Jaishankar said the discussions focused on advancing the India-Bahrain partnership while also covering the evolving regional situation.

The meeting comes a day after the External Affairs Minister called on Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, during which he conveyed the greetings of President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Jaishankar thanked the Bahraini monarch for his continued support in strengthening ties between the two countries and expressed appreciation for the Kingdom's efforts in ensuring the safety and welfare of the Indian community residing in Bahrain.

He also had an audience with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa during the visit.

As part of his engagements in Manama, Jaishankar interacted with members of the Indian diaspora, acknowledging their significant contribution to Bahrain's development and describing them as a vital bridge connecting the two nations.

During the interaction, he listened to their experiences and suggestions on further enhancing India-Bahrain relations.

Earlier on Monday, Jaishankar also held talks with Bahrain's Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani. The two leaders reviewed bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on key regional developments, while reaffirming their commitment to deepening ties.

The Bahrain visit follows Jaishankar's engagements in Qatar, where he met Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and interacted with members of the Indian community.

Bahrain is the second destination in Jaishankar's six-nation diplomatic tour. After completing his visit there, he is scheduled to travel to Kuwait, Oman, the United States and Brussels as part of the multi-country outreach aimed at strengthening India's international partnerships.
