Mangaluru, Jul 11: St Agnes School hosted its Parent–Teacher Association annual general meeting and felicitation ceremony at the Mother Mary Aloysia Centenary Hall on July 9. The programme celebrated the enduring partnership between parents and educators while honouring the outstanding achievements of the grade X students.

The morning commenced with a stately procession of the distinguished dignitaries, whose gracious presence lent dignity and prestige to the occasion. The programme was presided over by Sr Dr Vinora AC, president of the programme and joint secretary of St Agnes Schools, and graced by Dr Gururaj Itagi, counsellor, Sharada Group of Educational Institutions, Mangaluru, chief guest; Sr Jenifer Moras AC, principal; Pradeep Misquith, vice president of the PTA; Sr Meena Fernandes AC, vice principal; Sr Lavishanti AC, coordinator; Sr Letitia Lobo AC, coordinator, St Agnes Preparatory School; along with the esteemed members of the PTA executive committee.

As a mark of reverence and gratitude, Sr Dr Vinora AC, president of the programme and Dr Gururaj Itagi, chief guest, were accorded a symbolic welcome with an hourglass, symbolising the lasting impact of their guidance, dedication and the invaluable time devoted to nurturing young minds.

Setting a reverent tone for the proceedings, the programme began with a solemn prayer service, followed by a graceful welcome dance that delighted the audience with its elegance and vibrancy. Extending a warm and gracious welcome, Sr Meena Fernandes AC, vice principal, greeted the dignitaries, parents, teachers and students. In a thoughtful gesture of respect and appreciation, the distinguished dignitaries were presented with saplings, symbolising growth, renewal and the shared responsibility of nurturing future generations.

Adding another significant dimension to the proceedings, Neesha presented the annual report of the Parent–Teacher Association, followed by the presentation of the audited financial statement by Sr Lavishanti AC.

Further enriching the programme, Vindhya Shalet introduced the distinguished resource person, Dr Gururaj Itagi, a renowned motivational speaker, educationist, writer and counsellor, Sharada Group of Educational Institutions, Mangaluru, highlighting his notable contributions before the keynote address. The audience was subsequently enlightened by the keynote address delivered by Dr Gururaj Itagi, who affirmed that true education lies not merely in academic excellence but in nurturing values, character and responsible citizenship. Drawing upon psychological insights, real-life experiences and inspiring anecdotes, he reminded parents that children learn more through observation than instruction, making them a child's first and most influential educators. He encouraged parents to foster a nurturing home environment free from comparison and undue pressure while instilling values and extending their selfless support through meaningful collaboration with the school to raise compassionate, confident and responsible individuals.

A defining highlight of the programme was the felicitation of the outstanding achievers in the CBSE grade X board examination and other scholastic disciplines. The names of the awardees were announced by Josephine as the students were honoured for their exceptional accomplishments, perseverance and commitment to excellence.

The school toppers were felicitated by the dignitaries with mementoes, certificates, cash prizes and saplings for their exceptional performance in the CBSE grade X board examination. Cleona Sanchia Saldanha emerged as the school topper with an outstanding score of 98%, followed by Sanvi Sudhakar Shettigar with 97.8% and Haiba with 97.4%. Their remarkable achievements reflected their perseverance, discipline and commitment to excellence.

Equally commendable was the recognition of the subject toppers, whose outstanding academic accomplishments were acknowledged with mementoes, certificates and saplings. Cleona Sanchia Saldanha secured a perfect 100 in hindi, science and information technology. Nidhi Nirvani achieved 100 in social science and information technology, while Sanvi Sudhakar Shettigar emerged as the topper in mathematics (95) and Kannada (98). Aditi P K topped English with 98, and Khathija Misha also secured a perfect 100 in information technology, bringing further laurels to the institution.

Another highlight of the ceremony was the felicitation of the 23 students who secured 90% and above in the CBSE grade X board examination. In recognition of their outstanding achievement, each student received a memento, certificate and sapling. The achievers were Nidhi Nirvani (96.8%), Aditi P. K. (95.4%), Elma Gabriella Noronha (95.2%), Rhiya Rajesh (95%), Shivika Sathish (94.8%), Joyline Sequeira (94.4%), Liba Aasiya (94.4%), Yashasvi Manjunath Naik (94.4%), Andria Joan Joshi (94.2%), Clarissa Jenelia Rodrigues (94.2%), Muniba Fathima Chilmi (94.2%), Khathija Misha (94%), Mariyam Abdul Azeez (93.8%), Saanvitha Suvarna (93.6%), Sadhvi P Shetty (92.6%), Bhoomika G Rao (91.4%), Coral Sherlyn Rosario (91.4%), K S Tanmayee (91%), Dhriti Shetty (91%), Leanne Sarah Rego (90.8%), Nishikha P Jeppu (90.8%), Chinmayi R (90.6%) and Parthavi (90.4%). Their outstanding performance reflected their dedication, perseverance and consistent hard work.

Beyond academic excellence, the programme also celebrated the achievers in catechism and value education. As a mark of appreciation for their exemplary performance, they were presented with mementoes, certificates and saplings. In grade X, Joyline Sequeira secured 98 in catechism, while Nidhi Nirvani achieved a perfect 100 in value education. In grade VII, Jewel Pinto secured 97 in catechism and Vaishnavi Rao scored 99 in value education. Their accomplishments reflected the school's commitment to nurturing moral values alongside academic excellence.

Adding further significance to the occasion, Sr Dr Vinora AC, in her presidential address, expressed her gratitude to the parents for reposing their trust in the institution. Quoting that the greatest legacy parents and teachers can offer children is ‘roots and wings,’ she urged them to nurture children with strong values while empowering them to soar towards their aspirations. She concluded by encouraging parents and educators to work in harmony for the holistic development of every child.

Bringing the formal proceedings to a graceful close, Daphne proposed the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the management, dignitaries, parents, faculty members, students, the PTA executive committee and every individual whose invaluable support and dedicated efforts contributed to the success of the event. Following the vote of thanks, Neesha announced the names of the newly elected Parent–Teacher Association Executive Committee. The members were welcomed with a rose as a token of goodwill and encouragement.

Thereafter, Sr Jenifer Moras AC, principal, apprised the parents of the school's general guidelines and important instructions. She sought their continued cooperation in upholding the ethos, values and discipline that define the institution. The programme reaffirmed the shared commitment of the school and parents towards nurturing responsible, value-driven and compassionate learners. The gathering then stood for the National Anthem, bringing the memorable celebration to a dignified close.
