Bengaluru, Jul 30: Veteran actress Urvashi is all set to return to Kannada cinema after an eight-year hiatus, while her daughter Tejalakshmi Urvashi Nair will make her Sandalwood debut as the female lead in the upcoming dark comedy Bully.

The film's title was officially unveiled at Kanteerava Studio, where the cast and crew paid floral tributes at the memorial of legendary actor Dr Rajkumar before the launch.

Tejalakshmi will star opposite actor Bhuvan Ponnanna, marking her first Kannada film. A Bengaluru graduate who balances a corporate career with acting, she takes on the lead role in the film.

Adding to the excitement, Urvashi will portray Bhuvan Ponnanna's mother, making Bully the first Kannada film in which the mother-daughter duo will share screen space.

Speaking about her return to Sandalwood, Urvashi said she shares a deep emotional bond with the Kannada film industry, having worked with iconic actors such as Dr Rajkumar, Vishnuvardhan, Ambareesh, Anant Nag, Ravichandran and Ramesh Aravind.

She said she was delighted that her daughter was beginning her Kannada film journey with Bully and added that she instantly connected with the script when it was narrated to her in Chennai.

The makers have completed the first shooting schedule in Bengaluru, which featured several emotional and comedy sequences involving Urvashi.

Directed by Anup Antony, Bully is billed as a dark comedy centred on a unique and relatable mother-son relationship. The film also features filmmaker-actor Om Prakash Rao in a pivotal role as a moneylender.
