Mangaluru, Jul 31: Yenepoya Nephrourology institute of Yenepoya Medical College Hospital Mangaluru achieved an important milestone in advanced Urological cancer surgery by successfully performing consecutive robotic total intracorporeal orthotropic neobladder reconstructions in patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer. .
The entire procedure was performed completely in a 62 year old patient including bladder removal and neobladder creation intracorporeally using the robotic platform.
The patient's postoperative recovery was smooth and uneventful. He was comfortably taking a soft oral diet, mobilizing well, and was discharged on postoperative day 8 with the urinary catheter in place as per standard postoperative protocol.
This successful outcome reflects not only technological advancement but also the dedication and coordinated efforts of our multidisciplinary team. More importantly, it represents a new beginning for the patient—a chance to move forward after cancer treatment with preserved quality of life and the hope of maintaining near-normal urinary function.
