Mangaluru, Aug 12: The Forest Department has placed a cage near a house at Niddel Kody in the Permude gram panchayat limits to capture a leopard that created fear among residents after reportedly carrying away a dog on Sunday night.
The cage was placed near the house on Tuesday.
According to the family, Forest Department personnel have instructed them to place a dog or chicken inside the cage at night as bait.
On August 9 night, the leopard reportedly carried away a dog that was sitting on the verandah of G K Nonaiah Poojary’s residence at Niddel Kody. The incident was captured on the house’s CCTV camera.
The leopard’s presence has caused concern and fear among residents of Permude and surrounding areas of Bajpe.
