Bantwal, Aug 25: A 32-year-old youth tragically drowned while swimming at Kotikere in Vittal in the early hours.

The deceased has been identified as Lithin (32), an employee of SCDCC Bank. He was the son of Veerappa Gowda, a resident of Galihitlu in Vittal Kasaba.

According to sources, the incident occurred early in the morning when Lithin went for a swim in Kotikere. Locals who noticed him drowning immediately rushed to his rescue and pulled him out of the water. However, it is learnt that he had already breathed his last by then.

Lithin is survived by his parents, wife, and a child.
