Dubai, Sep 5: India captain Harmanpreet Kaur is set to create history when India face arch-rivals Pakistan in the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 5.

The high-profile encounter will mark a major milestone for Harmanpreet, who is set to lead India for the 150th time in T20Is. She is already the most capped captain in T20I cricket across both men’s and women’s formats and will become the first player in history to captain a side in 150 T20I matches.

India have made an impressive start to their Asia Cup campaign, winning both their matches so far. The Women in Blue will look to maintain their winning momentum when they take on Pakistan in Dubai.

India registered a comprehensive victory over Hong Kong in their previous match, with Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma making important contributions with the bat before the bowlers completed a convincing win.

Reflecting on the victory, Harmanpreet praised the team’s overall performance and highlighted the importance of adapting to the conditions in Dubai.

“I’ll start with the positives. Smriti and Shafali batted really well. In the middle overs, that’s why we wanted to bat first, to get used to these conditions,” Harmanpreet said after the match.

She added that India had achieved their target of adapting to the conditions while putting up a strong total and praised the bowlers for finishing the game effectively.

Harmanpreet also indicated that the team combination was largely settled ahead of the Pakistan clash, while leaving room for players to step up if required.

With India and Pakistan set to renew their rivalry, all eyes will be on Harmanpreet as she prepares to reach the unprecedented 150-captaincy milestone in T20Is.
