The deceased has been identified as Ramesh (42). His body was found inside an old house belonging to Narasimha Murthy at Hosangadi on Friday night, with severe injuries to his head.
A preliminary investigation has revealed that an altercation during drinking may have led to the death, and police suspect that it was a murder.

Other workers who returned to the quarters after completing their day's labour found Ramesh lying in a pool of blood and informed the police. It is said that Ramesh was not a permanent resident of the quarters.
