Kasargod, Sep 6: The Manjeshwar police have successfully arrested the accused in connection with the murder of a Karnataka-based man, who was stabbed to death at Hosangadi Angadipadavu.
The arrested accused has been identified as Ram Naik alias Ramesh (31), a resident of Harapanahalli in Davanagere district. A police team led by Manjeshwar inspector M V Vishnu Prasad apprehended him at Padil in Mangaluru on Saturday night. The accused was attempting to flee to his native place after committing the crime when the police took him into custody.

Accused Ram Naik and deceased Ramesh
The deceased, identified as Ramesh (38), hailed from Linganayakanahalli in Hospet, North Karnataka. He was residing in Angadipadavu and worked as a daily wage labourer. His body was found in the kitchen of the old two-storey house where he resided, on Friday evening.
According to the police, the deceased and the accused were friends. On the day of the incident, the duo was consuming alcohol at the house when a heated argument broke out between them over a financial dispute. In a fit of rage, Ram Naik stabbed Ramesh to death and fled the spot.
Neighbours who noticed Ramesh lying dead in the kitchen immediately alerted the authorities. The police rushed to the spot, initiated an investigation, and quickly tracked down the accused.
The post-mortem was conducted at the Kasargod General Hospital. The preliminary report confirmed that a deep stab wound to the chest was the cause of death. The mortal remains were later handed over to the relatives, who transported the body to their native village for the final rites.
The arrest operation was carried out with the assistance of sub-inspectors Shabareekrishnan and Arjun, and police squad members Sudhakaran, Sajith, Rajesh, and Jinesh.
