Beirut, Sep 7: The Israeli army on Monday ordered residents of a specific area in Deir Zahrani in southern Lebanon to evacuate ahead of planned strikes targeting what it described as a Hezbollah facility.

"Hezbollah's terrorist activity compels the IDF to act forcefully against it," the Israeli army said, adding that it was targeting a "Hezbollah terrorist facility".

The evacuation warning came amid heightened tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, with Israeli forces continuing operations in southern Lebanon despite a US-brokered ceasefire. Israeli airstrikes had already been reported in Deir Zahrani later on Monday by Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Manar television.

The latest warning follows Israeli airstrikes across southern Lebanon on Sunday that killed seven people, according to Lebanese authorities. Israel said the strikes were carried out in response to alleged Hezbollah drone attacks and targeted Hezbollah weapons facilities and other military infrastructure.

The escalating violence has raised concerns over the durability of the ceasefire and the growing humanitarian risks for civilians in southern Lebanon. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has condemned the Israeli strikes and called for international intervention to prevent further escalation.
