Riyadh, Oct 22: An Indian national was among two people killed in an attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday night. Two other Indian nationals were injured in the incident, the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia said on Thursday.

In a statement posted on X, the embassy said Saudi authorities had confirmed the death of the Indian national and the injuries sustained by two other Indians. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed.

“Saudi authorities have informed that one Indian national was among two people who unfortunately lost their lives in the attack on Dammam airport yesterday night and two Indian nationals were injured,” the embassy said.

The embassy added that it was gathering further information and contacting the affected families. It also expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

The attack prompted authorities to suspend flight operations at Dammam airport, which serves Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. Officials were assessing the extent of the damage, and it remained unclear when normal operations would resume. Unconfirmed reports claimed that around 20 rockets had struck the airport.

The incident comes amid escalating attacks by Iran-aligned Houthi forces against Saudi targets, including civilian aviation infrastructure. The group has also targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.

The latest attack follows a US State Department order for non-emergency American government employees and their family members to leave Saudi Arabia amid security concerns.

“Iranian-supported Houthis have increasingly engaged in hostilities against Saudi Arabia, including attacks on civilian airports and other critical infrastructure resulting in civilian casualties and severe travel disruptions,” State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said in a social media post.
