Media Release

Mangaluru, Nov 7: The Deepavali celebration was held at Lourdes Central School with great joy and enthusiasm on the school grounds.

The programme began with a prayer, followed by a prayer song. A warm welcome was extended by the students of grade IV B, D R Kayal and Advik Kotian.

A short skit presented by the students of grades IV B and IV C highlighted the significance of Deepavali. The first day, Naraka Chaturdashi, depicted the victory of good over evil. The second day, Lakshmi Pooja, focused on worshipping Goddess Lakshmi and seeking her blessings for prosperity. The third day, Bali Pooja, was explained through the story of King Mahabali. The students presented these traditions in an interesting and meaningful manner.

The ceremonial lighting of the lamp was performed by the dignitaries principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira, Fr Walter, vice principal Anitha Thomas, along with the class teachers, Anitha and Mini.

Addressing the gathering, principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira shared an inspiring message, “Diwali is the festival that leads us from darkness to light and from ignorance to knowledge, guiding us towards a brighter and more meaningful life. Just as one lamp can light many other lamps, we too should become a source of light in the lives of others.”

Adding to the festive spirit, the principal, Fr Johnson L Sequeira, along with the teachers and students, symbolically celebrated Diwali with a cracker celebration, which was conducted in a systematic and organised manner.

The celebration beautifully reflected the values of tradition, knowledge and togetherness, spreading the true spirit of Diwali and its message of light, happiness and goodness.

The programme concluded with the house system song.
