James Cameron to Help in Chinese 3D Films

Beijing, Apr 22 (IANS): A team of "Titanic" director James Cameron, also behind the success of sci-fi blockbuster "Avatar", will assist in shooting "The Art of War", a 3D movie about an ancient Chinese strategist and philosopher.

Organisers of the Second Beijing International Film Festival said an agreement will be signed during Cameron's appearance at the festival to be held in Beijing April 23-28, Xinhua reported.

Cameron's team is expected to provide technical support to the 3D shooting.

"The Art of War" is estimated to cost around $80-100 million.

At the festival, Cameron will speak on a forum and talk with Chinese filmmakers on other cooperation plans, the organisers said. Actor Keanu Reeves is also expected to attend.

The 3-D release of Cameron's 1997 classic "Titanic" grossed $67 million in China in six days, compared to the film's 10-day box office in North America of just $36 million.
