Mangalore, May 1: Effective Tuesday May 1, visitors to railway stations will be required to pay Rs 5 for the ticket to enter platforms. The hike has been imposed throughout the country.

The hike in platform ticket was announced in the rail budget in Parliament of 2012-13 and accordingly the rate has been increased from Rs 3 to Rs 5, a senior railway ministry official said. The platform ticket is valid only for two hours.

All railway zonal departments have been ordered to print new tickets on top priority. Until then, the new rate of Rs 5 will be stamped on the existing stock of tickets.

In January I had gone to Karwar.
There I noticed that Platform ticket was 3/- and travel ticket to next station was 2/-

So buy 2 Rs. travel ticket and don't travel just visit Platform and come back saying train missed.
