Mangalore: SCC Silver Jubilee Year Inaugurated in Mangalore Diocese

Mangalore, May 17: Small Christian Community Silver Jubilee Year (1987-2012) was inaugurated on Tuesday May 15 at the Bishop’s House during the combined meeting of senate and Diocesan Parstoral Parishad.

It was the day of Bishop A P D’Souza’s Episcopal ordination. Fr Walter D’Souza, the director of SCCs presented the programme of Silver Jubilee Year. Vicar Forane’s of 15 Deanery lighted the electrical lights of their parishes in the Diocesan map. Episcopal Vicar Baptist Menezes switched on the Silver jubilee year logo and Bishop inaugurated the year by lighting the lights of the whole border of the diocese.

Later Bishop released the brochure of Silver jubilee year, which carried the programme and instructions for the Silver jubilee year celebration and handed it over to the deanery SCC directors to distribute it to all the priests and gurkars of their respective deanery.

SCC Jubilee Committee members sang the Silver jubilee year song.

Felix D’Souza, Ammembal compeered the programme.

V Henry Sequeira, chancellor of the diocese, Fr J B Crasta, secretary of council of priests and Jerald D’Costa, secretary of the Diocesan Pastoral Parishad (DPP) were present on the dais.

Finally Bishop was felicitated on his 16th anniversary of his Episcopal ordination day. All the Senate members, DPP members and invited SCC guests were present.
