Frieda Pinto Emerges as Red Carpet Diva at Cannes

Cannes, May 19 (PTI): Be it her pink Michael Angel gown on the first day or the lime green Atelier Versace number on Day 2, Frieda Pinto's red carpet looks at the Cannes film festival this year shows she has transformed into quite a fashion diva.

The Slumdog Millionaire star's sartorial choices this year show she has come a long way from the time she burst onto the red carpet scene post the resounding success of her debut film.

The 27-year-old actress' pink strapless gown with a thigh-high slit for the premiere of Moonrise Kingdom on Wednesday was in keeping with this year's red carpet trend set by Angelina Jolie with her famous slit-gown at the Oscars.

Pinto followed up her day's look with a striking black sequin Versace gown, again with a slit, for the Opening Night Dinner.

For both day and night her hair was pulled back in a bun, keeping makeup and accessories minimal.

She went for haute couture on the second day too. Pinto's lime green sheer lace gown with a thigh-high split for the Rust and Bone premiere was right off the Atelier Versace Spring 2012 runway.

Although she has stayed away from anything dramatic so far, Pinto went a bit experimental with the white and gold Paco Rabanne knee-length dress she wore for a L'Oreal bash in the night, a far cry from the green and black Lanvin dress she had worn at Cannes last year.

Being a regular at various red carpet events and brushing shoulders with fashion divas in Hollywood reflected in Pinto's statement styles at the Cannes this year.
